Learning to manage our emotions, the way we act & react to others is crucial in developing and maintaining healthy relationships of all kinds.

This lesson helps students understand how responding carefully to people and situations is a key part of showing respect.

Ideal for Year 9 and above.

Explore the meaning of respect and why it is an important part of manhood.

Identify the difference between rational responses and raging reactions.

Understand the importance of thinking before acting.

  • Definition of respect and discussion as to whether this is a choice

  • Discussion on whether we respect ourselves and others

  • Influences and pressures from peers and different life contexts

  • The importance of our choices when responding to situations

  • Exploring attitudes towards women

  • Examination of the benefits of respecting others including statistics on domestic abuse

  • A Christian response to this topic including biblical teachings on respect, value and self-esteem
